Checkpoints before an alternative is accepted
Pick the comparison family
Say if volumetric, panelized, foldable, or a rigid-frame steel system may be offered.
Name the records
Drawings, calculations, and quality notes must match the system in the quotation.
Split the money lines
Keep transport, foundation, installation, and tax off a single unlabeled total.
Record the deviation
The buyer signs off on substitutions before the alternative is treated as equal.

Decisions that stay open until the buyer closes them
Anything that changes steel weight, transport, or site hours: span, height, insulation, door size, and whether the foundation is in the package. Leave the line blank rather than copying a number from a different project.
The manufacturer name on the quotation, the drawing revision, the load basis, the scope exclusions, and the destination. A visual similarity to a searched brand is not verification. Compatibility with a named system is unconfirmed unless that supplier states it for this order.
A repeated module can be compared sooner when the pad and the occupancy fit the published size. An unusual clear span, crane, or local load case needs calculations for that site. Say which path the buyer will accept so factories do not price different design efforts.
