Scope and document review

ForgeWorks Sourcing scope review before factory quotations

ForgeWorks Sourcing prepares one request that every responding factory can answer. The service matches suppliers only after use, loads, quantity, destination, and exclusions are written down. It does not sell kleusberg products and it does not claim an official relationship with that name.

Two quotation shapes that should not share one total

The table is a buyer worksheet. Cells describe what to ask, not a price and not a factory already selected. If the buyer already has criteria, write them with units: wind speed in mph, ground snow load in psf, and a thermal transmittance or R-value target. Leave the cell blank when the figure is unknown.

CheckShell or kitInstalled or wider package
Primary frameAsk for member sizes and steel grade on the quoted system.Same frame data, plus who seals the field splices.
Secondary framingPurlin and girt spacing stay visible on the drawing set.Confirm whether ceiling grid or liner panel is added on site.
EnclosureInsulated metal panel or other wall and roof build-up, with the stated thermal transmittance.Add flashings, openings, and who owns the weather seal.
Foundation interfaceReaction loads and anchor pattern only.State whether piers, slab, or leveling are inside the number.
TransportFactory gate or named port, called out as its own line.Site access, crane, and set sequence called out separately.
DocumentsGeneral arrangement and a material list.Calculations, connection details, and the quality records the buyer listed.

Work the desk actually coordinates

  • Normalize the request

One use statement, one set of module dimensions, one jurisdiction, and one quantity unit go to every factory. Mixed assumptions come back as mixed totals.

  • Separate exclusions

Taxes, duties, foundation, utilities, permits, and installation are either in the scope or listed as buyer work. They are not left inside a single unlabeled figure.

  • Ask for the file set

Drawings, design calculations, weld or coating notes, and any test report must name the system being quoted. A general certificate page is not attached to a different product by assumption.

  • Record deviations

If a factory substitutes cold-formed steel for hot-rolled steel, or panelized construction for a volumetric module, the change is marked before anyone treats the numbers as equal.

  • Hold the commercial lines apart

Currency, per-unit or whole-order budget, and a high-end, mid-range, budget, or undecided preference travel with the brief as buyer instructions. They do not rate the factory.

Questions buyers raise while the scope is still open

Which requirements must each supplier quote?

Use, footprint, height, layout, design wind, snow and seismic criteria when the buyer has them, quantity, destination, and the scope boundary. Without those lines, two quotations describe different buildings.

What does volumetric versus panelized change?

Volumetric modular construction moves more finish off site and tightens the transport envelope. Panelized construction can pack denser and then needs a longer site assembly window and weather protection. The request should say which method is acceptable.

Which costs need their own confirmation?

Freight, crane, foundation interface, mechanical and electrical rough-in, permits, and local tax are common exclusions. A lower factory-gate figure is not a smaller project total until those lines are priced or assigned to the buyer.

Can the desk promise code approval?

No. IBC, IRC, HUD Code, and state modular programs are different regimes. The buyer and the project professionals decide which regime applies. The desk only asks the supplier to identify the documents offered for that regime.

Request factory quotes on one written scope

Send the specification, quantity, destination, and timing. The desk will use that text when it asks factories for alternatives. It will not present the reply as an original-brand supply.

Submitting lets the desk review the brief and ask factories for quotations on that written scope. Read the Privacy Policy. Stock, price, code compliance, and brand compatibility stay unconfirmed until a named supplier answers the exact system.
